The Procedure
Usually the incisions are made in the areola region extending downward and around the underside of the breast. By removing the excess tissue, fat and skin, the size of the breast is reduced and the nipple and areola are given proper position. In some cases, liposuction is carried out to achieve the results. The procedure is same for both men and women. After the surgery, an elastic bandage or supportive bra specially designed for this purpose is placed over the guaze bandages and drainage tubes.
Risks that are involved are bleeding, infection, anesthesia reactions or unexpected scarring. Scars remain red for several months and gradually fade.
